Last night before I went to bed, I decided to review my old journals. I was wrestling with where I was with the Lord, feeling a little apathetic and complacent and wanted to just remind myself of all the things God has said and done for me...as I was looking through my journal I found this word God gave me back in November or December of 06. At the time I was disillusioned with what was going on at church & thought I understood what God was saying, but after rereading it last night I realized I only got a small piece of what God was saying to me at the time. This is what I wrote
Our churches are becoming a mirrored reflection of the American culture we see today. The problem with America is that we have become a proud, lazy,arrogant, baby-aborting, obese society and our churches reflect the same attitude.
We are guilty of thinking we have all the answers (our denominations). We have become guilty of being feed & feed & feed and never exercising to keep the food from becoming a hindrance. We live to eat (or be fed) rather than eat to live (filling up to pour out). We have become guilty of aborting dreams and gifts that God is pouring out that we don't understand - gifts that come out of hardship, gifts that we don't want the responsibility to care for. We have become lazy & complacent, a "give me" generation. We'd rather sit back and become an arm chair quarterback, critiquing all the moves made by someone else than to get in the middle of the game and play ourselves.
Wow! If you weren't at The Rock today and you missed the message, you may not get the magnitude of it all but I sat there and listened to Pastor B's message and thought about how big God is that He could speak something to me 2 years ago that wouldn't even completely make since to me until now and that He could direct my steps enough to read my journal on the night before Pastor Bryan shared this message. God rocks!

You may not remember me. But my husband Anthony and I met you and your husband last summer at the marriage conference at THE ROCK and we also went to the church for a while and loved it there. We also live just up the road from you guys.
Anyways, without going into any details. Your blog was an tangible answer to a prayer that I prayed just last night that God would give us physical confirmation on some things that we've been going through and decisions that we've had to recently make. And our decision making process in the choice we've made. And then, we found your blog through Pastor B.'s page. And even though none of this may make any sense to you, we know what God has confirmed in our lives through you....and Pastor B. I just wanted to say thank you!!
There is nothing like hearing confirming messages from throughout the state and the WORLD to be encouraged that God is speaking to so many men and women! Paster Whitt has been preaching on some of this lately as well and though we just got off of a long two week shift with the boys ... I'll try to write a bit more and elaborate soon! Thanks for sharing this Hoddie ... it's an encouragement to me ... both FOR you and THROUGH you!!!! I hope you are getting better and feel spiffy very soon!
